"I just backed your project for five bucks. I know there's no reward for that, but that's fine - I'm 43, and all my toys are packed up in the back of my office. Mostly, as a parent of a teenage girl who has been battling society's twisted expectations of female beauty and sexuality since she was a toddler, I want to thank you for what you're doing, and put my money where my mouth is."

"Dear Heroines,

I am writing this note because I am indescribably happy to be part of your KickStarter team. And btw, I have searched the Gratitude Graphic and found my name, YAY!
I have 2 children, an almost 7 year old son and an almost 4 year year old daughter. In all of the generations that I can trace on my father's side there had been only 2 girls born. I was pleasantly surprised to be blessed with the third. But, I was also nervous because of a deficit in my knowledge of little girls and how they grow up.

Fast forward to the present, my son is now at the age that I have felt comfortable introducing him to my old action figures. And since most of my preserved toys are Star Wars related there is the associated conflict and violence that goes with them. Realizing that, my nervousness returned in the form of the question, "what kind of action figures am I going to find for my daughter to play with?" As you so clearly described the situation, the options for female action figures on the mass market today fail to encourage some of the best attributes while accentuating others. I stumbled upon the IAmElemental KickStarter campaign so soon after this that I have to credit divine intervention with guiding my clumsy hands. Or maybe it was Persistence and Enthusiasm.
I am excitedly looking forward to giving my little girl her first action figures. I wish I could have supported at the highest level. And I remember nervously watching the funding day after day. As it happened I was able to get a three pack and I think that will be a great start. I wish you all the best as you work on this. I feel like this project is specifically for my little girl and I expect most of your KickStaters probably feel the same way.

I may not be able to say it enough so instead I'll say it simply;

Thank you,

"Congratulations Dawn and Julie! I am so proud and happy to say.....I just found out about your creations
and have been able to support your efforts! As a mother and teacher of
 young girls I know this is a very important creation/invention. I am
already sharing it on FB! BRAVA! I have wanted to see this type of toy for girls become a reality for a long
time….I believe
you will go far with this! I have a daughter, who is now 18, who would have loved your action
figures...so brilliant and ethical! I can't wait to open my IAmElemental
 women! Love it your work! Hope you make history!"

"Thank you so much for creating such an exciting new toy! I'm a toy maker and comic book creator, and within my community of fellow toy makers there has been a great deal of discussion about IAmElemental….It has stimulated more thoughtful and socially conscious debate than I think I have ever seen about a line of action figures, and I couldn't be more excited about it. I applaud your efforts and hope IAmElemental helps children of all ages and gender identifications learn (or remember!) the value of imagination and creation in Play, and how much FUN and empowering action figures can be! Thank you!!!"

"I want to say that I am very excited about the release of these toys. I am the father of two girls (5 and 1.5) and I am only recently coming to realize the problems that you mention on your website. I am, and always have been, a nerd and I of course tried to introduce all of my nerdy things to my oldest daughter, Athena. Even putting the hyper sexuality of female characters aside, there aren’t any good female characters in these type of stories. Whenever I showed her a new movie, cartoon or book I would ask her who her favorite character was. She would always pick the girl. I never thought much about it until I showed her a cartoon with an almost exclusively male cast of characters. When I asked her that same question as above, she said her favorite character was the girl character. At first, I didnt know what she was talking about. This character was not a main character, and only appeared in the show for 20 seconds. However, she was the only female character in the show so she immediatly identified with it. That hit me like a ton of bricks, in that it wasnt that the shows itself were not interesting her, its that she wanted to identify with a female character. After that, I tried hard to find more shoes and TV shows with female supporting characters or larger female casts. This was hard than I thought once you remove shows with a token female love interest and shows that just focus on girls as consumerist sex objects. So this is why im happy to see a toy line that not only focuses completely on women, but does so in a way that my daughter will be able to identify with the characters in the way that she wants. Also, all the superpowers and sci fi stuff added on allows me to continue to brainwash her to like all the nerdy things I do. I deeply regret I did not learn of this until after your kick starter campaign had been finished as I would have liked to have supported what you are doing – I would appreciate knowing if there was still a way I could do that. However, if not, I will do so by purchasing your items and telling others to do the same. My daughter is already excited about the toys.

So, in short, keep up the good work. It is appreciated.

"This will be my first action figure set- and it looks like its going to be the only type I'll ever need. Looking forward to it!"
